We have THE HOTTEST line up to date. I’m serious.

Music, poetry, comedy, fun, games, laughter, raffles, live t-shirt art and all the usual unusual surprises. Seats fill fast - arrive early!

Aoife Mannix is…a deliriously delicious poet
As she was unable to join us for the last show due to an assassination attempt involving paint, we are lucky enough to have her back to delight and astonish!

Aoife is an Irish writer currently touring her poetry and music show ‘Growing Up An Alien’ with Apples and Snakes. She has a collection of poetry entitled ‘The Elephant in the Corner’ and has had work broadcasted on BBC Radio 3, 4, and London Live. She has worked as a poet with the British Council in Taiwan, Thailand and India and has had commissions for the National Gallery, Medway Fuse Festival and Glasgow 2020. Just breathtaking.

Laura J Martin is…a prodigious flautist, mandolin playing, singing sensation
Hold tight as Laura J weaves her magic in her vocal debut of funky, folky, jazzy goodness. Laura writes, performs and produces her own music and is about to release a 7” with First Word records. She has played with numerous established bands across the county including touring with Kidkanevil as a featured artist on his first album. Whilst living in Tokyo, she participated in the soil and pimp jam sessions. Talent in its purest form.

Darren Ruddell is…the funniest guy in town. I’m not joking.
Quirky intelligent humour from genius comedy writer Darren Ruddell. ‘Mostly Dull’ is the riveting adventure of a nobody doing nothing and his first book awaiting publishing. Darren is currently a finalist in the Laughing Horse New Act competition and has been performing just under a year. Caught this guy recently at the Comedy Café in Shoreditch and knew we’d picked a winner. One to watch.

Paul E Nelson is…joining us all the way from the U S of A
Paul is a broadcast interview host, journalist, teacher and poet who founded Global Voices Radio and co-founded Northwest SPokenword LAB (SPLAB). Paul has two chap books, a CD - Twisting Runes and a manuscript of an epic poem re-enacting Auburn history, entitled A Time before Slaughter. A professional broadcaster since 1980, he has interviewed hundreds of authors, poets, activists and whole-system theorists for a regionally-syndicated public affairs radio program. We are not worthy!

Warsan Shire is…a profound Somali poetess
Warsan writes from the heart in richly sensuous language and detail, deeply moving, this poet is unafraid to write what she sees. She cites her influences as ‘hysterical lullabies and bravery, the occasional firm hand shake and orphans, train wrecks, deep set dimples and white bed sheets. Truly inspiring.

Priscilla Sim & Yemisi Blake are…excited about the show!! (and T&J founders)
Priscilla writes about love, life and all that good/bad stuff. She wrote a book, is writing a book, has read all round the country, runs workshops and been on the radio and that. Yem is on the board of Apples & Snakes, an emerging artist in residence at the Southbank Centre, an associate editor of Metaroar, a NALD Ambassador and member of Malika’s Kitchen. He also finds time to study Sociology at Goldsmiths, write everything from the sublime to the supreme, run workshops and do readings.
